KBL Board of Directors 2020-2020 season celery cap frozen 2.5 billion won
KBL freezes celery caps for 2.5 billion won in the 2020-2021 season.
KBL held the 25th 6th Board of Directors meeting at KBL Center in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 6th to check various agenda items for the preparation of the 2020-2021 season. The next season’s celery cap and free agent (FA) schedule were the main topics of discussion.
KBL decided to use the celery cap for the next season to be 2.5 billion won, the same as the 2019-2020 season. At the meeting of the secretary-general last week, there was an opinion that the celery cap would be reduced in view of the difficult situation of the national economy in the aftermath of the new coronavirus infection (corona19), but the board concluded by freezing.
The FA Mayor decided to open on May 1. As the 2019-2020 season ended early in the aftermath of the Corona 19, the FA schedule could have been accelerated, but commented that some teams were in the process of signing and replacing managers, and the board accepted it.
Players who qualify for FA can negotiate with all 10 clubs from May 1st to 15th. From this time, preferential negotiations with the original club were abolished. Players who have failed to find their destination here will exercise their FA rights once again by submitting a letter of intent for intention from the 16th to the 18th of next month. Nevertheless, FA players who have not been able to find the team can continue their careers by negotiating with the original team.
However, after submitting a letter of intent, the rules that allowed players to select a team when there was a contest within 10% of the first season salary suggested by the clubs have been deleted. The goal is to let players choose the team they want to go to regardless of the amount. The compensation system will remain until this FA. Teams that recruit FA players included in the top 30 of the previous season’s annual salary must be compensated in cash or by one player excluding protected players in the original club.
Meanwhile, the D-League, which was suspended in the aftermath of the Corona 19, was decided as the 1st executive, 2nd Changwon LG, 3rd Jeonju KCC, and 4th Ulsan Hyundai Mobis based on the end of the regular league. As part of social distance, the 2019-2020 season regular league award ceremony will not be held. On the 20th of this month, only the winners were invited and presented at the KBL Center.
